Two years ago my boyfriend and I visited New York and stayed at On the Ave, an adorable boutique hotel in the Upper Westside. We explored up and down Amsterdam Ave. between 72nd and 82nd. I absolutely love that area, and so when he came to visit this weekend we made a point of going back up there and revisiting some of the restaurants we had gone to the first time we came to New York.
Planet Sushi 200 West 79th Street between 78th and 79th. Don’t let the cheesy name fool you, this place is GOOD. It doesn’t look too fancy, but their outdoor seating is awesome, they are attentive, the service is quick and the rolls are delicious. It’s a casual spot that opens up on to the street so you can watch the world walk by. Just what I’m looking for after a sweaty walk around Central Park.
We went for lunch and had a bowl of edamame as an appetizer, two cups of sake and three rolls all for $34. How? We aren’t sure. It’s hard to go on a sushi date in Como for that price. I think it’s some sort of Upper Westside miracle.
